Portable With SmartCast Unit

The Humminbird PiranhaMax 230 Portable is a unique portable device with wireless transmission capability. Together with a portable suction cup type transducer, the 230 is equipped with a Smartcast wireless transducer that as an operating range to 100 feet and a depth capability of 120 feet. The idea is that an angler can cast the smart cast transducer offboard or offshore to further scout lucrative fishing spots.

Display
The PiranhaMax 230 actually has a similar screen size as the 220,i.e. 4 inch diagonal, but it has a reduced screen resolution of 160 vertical pixels by 132 horizontal pixels. It is a monochrome screen with four levels of gray scale. There are three levels of backlighting for nighttime fishing or low light conditions.

Fish Finder
Two sonar units are included: The portable suction cup single beam transducer part number XPT 920 T, which outputs 100 W RMS and 800 W peak to peak power. It operates at 200 kHz with 20° coverage angle at -10 DB.

The wireless transducer part number RF 45 is a floating unit which is cast by fishing rod to the area of interest. It has a wireless range of 100 feet. The operating frequency is 125 kHz and has a coverage angle of 90° at -10 DB and a depth capability of 120 feet.

Features
Because this is a portable Fish finder, a rugged carrying cases included. The unit will alarm for a low battery condition. Large digital display is easy to see. Various alarms can be set for example a depth alarm and fish alarm. Operational choices include zoom settings and gain sensitivity controls.

Installation
This unit can operate with eight AA batteries. It is also specified with 10 to 20 V DC input power.
